Barbados Beach Club, Maxwell Beach , Barbados
This friendly hotel is well set up for fun in the sun. Set on craggy rocks, it has a lovely beach below it. What’s more, it’s in a good spot for enjoying the lively side of Barbados. A five-minute walk will bring you to a main road fringed with restaurants and bars. From here, cabs and buses will get you to the clubs and music spots of St Lawrence Gap in around ten minutes.
The hotel definitely makes the most of its position. The pool bar is on the beachfront terrace, so you can take in the setting over drinks. And the main restaurant follows suit, offering Bajan and global buffets with a side-order of widescreen views. There’s another restaurant, which serves Mediterranean-inspired cuisine – again in sight of the sea. Plus, the evening scene is rounded off by regular live music and cabaret nights.
Rooms are arranged in pink-and-white blocks clustered around the pool and gardens. Finished in tropical colours, they’re bright and spacious. Upgrades are available, too. Super deluxe rooms, for example, are bigger and look out over the sea or pool.
