Riu Playacar

Tropical, friendly and relaxed, the Riu Playacar has whitewashed walls, terracotta-tiled roof and jungle setting, with Caribbean good looks. The lobby is an appealing mix of Mexican and colonial design, with Aztec-style wood carvings, paintwork in tropical brights and charming touches like ceiling fans, chandeliers and scroll-legged tables.

The rooms are in small blocks, scattered through the gardens, just three storeys high. They’re painted in an array of pastel colours and trimmed with hacienda-esque verandas. The bedrooms themselves are generously sized,  with solid wood furnishings, ceiling fans and air-conditioning, satellite TV, complimentary toiletries and Riu’s signature liquor dispenser.

The restaurants include an international buffet, one thats Asian-themed, and an American grillhouse, and there are plentiful bars. The hotel is part of the Riu Playacar Resort complex so you can have your after-dinner drink at any of the bars in Riu Yucatan and ClubHotel Riu Tequila.The pool is great for relaxatiom, with palm trees, exotic plants and pleasing fountains.
