Fringed by dunes on the beach of Praia de Salines, this hotel has a desert oasis feel to it. Moorish in design, it looks a bit like a sultan’s palace with its domed ceilings and arched windows. Step inside, meanwhile, and you’ll be greeted by a courtyard-style lobby embellished with grand spiral-effect pillars and cushioned wicker armchairs. The pool is a huge and lagoon-style, edged with comfy sunbeds and in-the-water loungers. A shaded swim-up bar sits at one end, and there is a whirlpool bath and a separate kids’ pool. The spa is bright and airy offering a variety of treatments from massages to body wraps.
